Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what the Video to MP3 Converter browser extension and the website videotomp3converter.org ("we", "us") collect, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as the product needs to work. Contact: [email protected].
What stays on your device
Your format and bitrate choices, your list of recent conversions (up to 20), file names you changed, and a free-use counter are stored only in your browser. We never receive them. Removing the extension deletes them.
What we process to convert a video
The extension reads a web page only when you click its icon on that page, or, if you turn on "Detect pages automatically", when you open a page with a video. When you press Convert, the extension sends our server the address of the video (on some sites, the address of the video file found on the page), the format and quality you chose, and the file name. Our server passes this to our own conversion service, together with a one-way hashed identifier (never your email) so we can enforce daily limits.
Converted files are kept only long enough for you to download them and are deleted within 24 hours. We keep a record of each conversion (time, format, result and the hashed identifier) to run limits, prevent abuse and fix errors. We do not build a history of the videos you watch.
Your identifier and account
To recognise your installation, the extension creates a random anonymous ID. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name and profile picture from Google and use them only to link your membership to your account.
Account cookie. When you use the extension or open our Pricing page, our website sets one first-party cookie (named cs_ followed by the extension ID) that stores your anonymous ID. It lets our website recognise your membership without asking you to sign in. It is strictly necessary for the Pricing and sign-in pages, is never shared with third parties, can't be read by scripts on the page, and expires after 400 days. You can delete it in your browser settings at any time.
Usage events
We record a small set of product events — for example that the extension was installed, that a conversion succeeded or failed (with the format, never the video), and which page you came from when you installed. To know which page brought you, our website stores a first-touch cookie (cs_ft) with the referring domain and campaign tags of your first visit. These events do not include your IP address or location, and they never include the videos you watch or convert.
Feedback
If you send feedback, including when you uninstall or after rating the extension, we receive what you write, the reason you picked, any email or attachment you add, your browser type, language, the extension version and your anonymous ID. We don't attach your IP address or location to it. We use it only to answer you and improve the product.
Promotions
The side panel may show suggestions for our other tools. We record whether a suggestion was shown, clicked or dismissed, linked to your anonymous ID, to avoid repeating it.
Payments
Payments, when offered, are handled by our payment provider. We never see your card details; we receive your membership status and subscription identifiers.
Website analytics
Our website (not the extension) can use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand which pages and links help people find us. It records the pages you view on our website, which install links you click, your approximate region, and your device and browser type. It does not receive your account, your anonymous ID, your email address, or anything from the extension.
Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID. We set one more cookie, cs_consent, to remember your choice for one year. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Analytics is only loaded after you click Accept. Everyone can change their choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.
Who we share data with
Only service providers that run the product for us: our hosting and conversion infrastructure (Cloudflare), Google (for sign-in, and for our website, Google Analytics if enabled) and our payment provider. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Retention
- Converted files: up to 24 hours.
- Conversion records and events: up to 24 months.
- Feedback: until the issue is resolved, then up to 24 months.
- Account data: until you ask us to delete it.
- Cookies: account cookie 400 days; consent cookie 1 year; first-touch cookie until your browser deletes it.
Your choices and rights
You can use every feature without signing in. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at [email protected]; include the user code shown in the extension's "Help & feedback" so we can find it. Uninstalling removes all local data.
Children
The product is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the extension.
