Can I convert my video to MP3?
Yes. Open the video in Chrome or Edge, click the Video to MP3 Converter icon and press Convert. The side panel saves the audio as MP3 (or M4A or WAV) to your Downloads folder. Step-by-step guide.
How do I convert a YouTube video to MP3?
Open the video, click the extension icon, keep "Audio" and "MP3" selected, and press Convert. The file is saved with the video's title, artist and cover art. Playlists, Shorts and YouTube Music songs work the same way.
Does it work on sites other than YouTube?
Yes, on most video sites. Click the icon on the page, then press Try this page: the panel finds the video and converts it like any other. Pages that stream protected video (Netflix, Spotify and similar) can't be converted, and the panel says so.
Why can't I convert YouTube videos to MP3 anymore?
Most web converters break when YouTube changes how videos are delivered, or when they're blocked for heavy traffic. We run and update our own conversion servers, retry a failed conversion once automatically, and tell you in plain words when a video genuinely can't be converted (private, removed, region-locked or still live).
Is YouTube blocking downloads now?
YouTube regularly changes its systems, which is why many converter sites stop working without warning. Occasionally a conversion is held up for a while; when that happens the extension tells you to try again later instead of failing silently.
Which is the highest quality audio format?
WAV is lossless, M4A keeps the original audio track without re-encoding, and MP3 is re-encoded but plays everywhere. For the best quality with a small file, choose M4A; for editing, choose WAV; for compatibility, choose MP3 at 320 kbps.
Does 320 kbps make it sound better?
Not beyond the source. Online video audio is usually streamed at about 128–160 kbps, so a 320 kbps MP3 avoids adding new loss but can't add detail. Is 320 kbps worth it?
Can I just change M4A to MP3 by renaming the file?
No. Renaming only changes the label, not the audio inside, and some players will refuse to open it. Pick MP3 in the side panel before converting instead.
Can I save podcasts as MP3?
Yes. Open the episode, choose MP3 (128 or 192 kbps is plenty for speech) and convert. Audio up to 2 hours long is supported.
How long can a video be?
Audio conversions handle videos up to 2 hours; MP4 video downloads up to 1 hour. Longer videos are flagged before you start, so you don't wait for nothing.
Is there a daily limit?
Each person can run up to 50 conversions a day. If you reach it, the panel tells you when you can continue.
Does it work on iPhone or Android?
No — it's a browser extension for Chrome and Edge on a computer. Convert on your computer, then copy the file to your phone.
Is it safe? Does it show ads or read my browsing?
There are no ads or redirects. The extension reads a page only when you click its icon, doesn't read your other tabs, and keeps your recent list in your browser. Converted files are deleted from our servers within 24 hours. Read the privacy policy.
Is converting YouTube music to MP3 legal?
It depends on the content and where you live. Saving your own uploads, public-domain or Creative Commons material, or content you have permission to use is generally fine; downloading copyrighted music without permission may break YouTube's terms and copyright law. You're responsible for what you convert.
Where are my files saved, and what are they named?
In your browser's Downloads folder. The name comes from the video title — you can change it before converting — and title, artist and cover art are written into MP3 and M4A files.
Do I need an account?
No. You can sign in with Google if you want your membership to follow you, but every conversion works without signing in.
Ready to try it?
Free during early access, in Chrome and Edge.
